Developing strong partnerships with industrial departments, innovative small sized companies and innovative start-up is the best way to identify major technological challenges and to optimize the impact of research result.
With a technology driven activity, CITI research cannot be independent from industrial collaboration and transfer. Our strategy consists in building long-term relationship to direct research toward economic and social challenges. This approach is essential to build up strong consortium in order to answer to national and European research program. The CITI also strongly supports innovative company foundation through joint participation of special government programs or direct collaboration. In the following list, one may find some of our best success stories regarding industrial partnerships.
Orange Labs
The market leader France Telecom has established a strong partnership with the CITI since 2002. Scientific exchanges exist between Orange Labs Meylan, Orange Labs Rennes and Orange Labs Beijing. Both wireless networking and software engineering topics are addressed through joint multi partner projects or direct funding (5 grants). Within the scope of this partnership, three patents deposits were done and nine PhDs have been conducted.
Alcatel Lucent INRIA Lab
The CITI Lab, through its integration of the INRIA research organization, is an active member of the Alcatel-Lucent and INRIA joint research laboratory for next generation networks launched in 2007. The key problem addressed by this long term collaboration is the design of autonomous networks and the automation of their operation. The aim is to make the networks more robust, more available, more secure and more fl exible so they are adapted to the needs of the users.
Exaprotect
This SME based in Lyon provides security and management software for largescale, heterogeneous network infrastructures. The partnership with the CITI existed since 2004 and two PhDs have been conducted in the scope of this collaboration. The goal of our work is to enforce the global vision of a system to improve Intrusion Detection System. We are currently focused on behaviour modelling and forensic analysis.
ToutOphone
This start-up created in 2001 develops a software environment for management of nomadic application and mobile fl eet through an innovative cellular phone IHM. At the beginning of the company, the CITI was involved with ToutOphone in a joint project with human scientists to develop the proof of concept of new services.
Embedia
The CITI Lab was a technology partner for this start-up created in 2005 developing embedded interactive solutions for the modern communication industry. Its goal is to supply electronic content to an audience which Consumer Electronics can receive advertising or technical data on their PDAs or phones via Bluetooth or Wifi . The CITI still technically supports the action of this promising company.

In the past some short term partnerships were made with Microsoft, Philips and Renault.
